The Japanese word Kasumi (霞) means “mist” or “soft haze.” That delicate feeling is reflected in the layered blue-grey glaze, where soft cloudy tones, deeper earthy shades and subtle markings blend naturally across the surface.
Look closely and you will discover fine organic details within the glaze, almost like tiny branches appearing through morning mist. The inside reveals another beautiful layer of soft blue, giving Kasumi a sense of depth from every angle.
Each cup is individually shaped, glazed and fired by hand. The movement of the glaze can never be completely controlled, allowing fire and time to leave their own traces. This makes Kasumi truly unique — there will never be another piece exactly like it.
