Autumn

Autumn

Autumn, definitely my favourite time of year. I notice that the older I get, the more nature calls to me. I take wonderful walks through the forest close to where I live. The colours are beautiful and evoke memories for me. When I was a little girl, I used to walk here with my mother, and now I walk here with my own daughter and my grandson.

I collect and search for small stones, twigs, leaves, and photograph the mushrooms, the sunlight shining through the trees, or the dew on the leaves.

This little artwork is built up from several layers of paper, each carefully treated with coffee dye. For the blue color, I used liquid ink.

This technique gives the work a warm, earthy look that perfectly fits the natural theme. The little mushroom, painted in soft watercolor tones, really stands out and draws the viewer’s attention.

My love for nature clearly comes through here. The delicate details of the mushroom and the subtle color variations of the coffee dye show how art and nature can go hand in hand. Each layer of paper tells its own story, and together they form a harmonious whole.

I invite you to also be inspired by the beauty nature gives us. Take a walk and look closely around you—there is so much wonderful to discover! I made a little video of the creation process on my Instagram account.

I’m curious to hear what you think!

Love, Melinda xxx
